Here’s to Jimbo; he was good in a clutch

Years ago I did a column lamenting the fact that when I was a youngster, we never had the money to have anything — electronic item or car, especially — conventionally repaired. We always went to what I referred to as the “Ol’ Jimbo” types, who’d often keep our item for weeks or months at a time (a year, in one particular case), after which the problem might or might not stay fixed.
