— The bridge that crosses the spillway at Lake Norwood Dam will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tuesday for repair.

In case of inclement weather, the repair and closing will be moved to Wednesday, according to a news release.

Bridge To Close For Repair

The annual Bailey & Oliver Law Firm Speech Competition for Bentonville and Rogers high school students will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Bailey & Oliver, 3606 Southern Hills Blvd. in Rogers, will host the event. An awards ceremony will follow the competition, according to a new release.

Participants will speak onSpeech Contest Set For Saturday“Is the U.S. currently falling behind in education? If so, what needs to be done?” The topic was chosen by members of the law firm from several topics submitted by students, according to the release.

The competition is for Bentonville and Rogers students who competed in a preliminary round and were among the top 14 students.

First place will receive $300, second place will receive $200 and third place will receive $100. All students will receive a T-shirt and DVD of the performance.

Judging the event will be Judges Tom Smith, Brad Karren, Shelle Summerswith the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce, Tomek Siwiec with Arvest Bank, Brad Reed with KFTA, Jonathan Martinez with KNWA, Karen Highfill with Rogers High School, Chad Scott with Bentonville High School, Rhonda Fincher with Kendrick Fincher Hydration Foundation and Pat Bailey with Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

The competition is open to the public.
