Board To Vote On Software, Lifting Hiring Freeze

— The Property Owners Association’s board will vote this week to lift its hiring freeze and buy a software system.

The board voted in November to approve the first three months of the 2013 budget, deferring employee wage increases, donations to the Bella Vista Library, Bella Vista Animal Shelter and Bella Vista Community Television and buying Total e Golf software.

Property Owners Association’s Board

The Property Owners Association’s board regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bella Vista Country Club, 98 Clubhouse Drive. The meeting is open to the public.

The board was hesitant to approve a 12-month budget after a 10-year baseline review projected a future financial shortfall, according to a Property Owners Association news release.

Tommy Bailey, general manager, also was directed to make other necessary budget deferrals, including reducing operating hours at some facilities, canceling some events and programs and start a hiring freeze, according to the release.

The association needs to hire seasonal employees for golf maintenance and operation and recreation positions, Bailey said. The hiring process for many of the positions begins in February because of screening, background checks and drug testing.

Also, the association has some full-time positions needing to be filled, including the superintendent and assistant superintendent positions at the Metfield Golf Complex, he said.

The board also will discuss buying Total e Golf software to replace outdated software, according to the release.

The software will be programmed to fit the association’s needs. The system could be up and running by January 2014; however, a complete installation could take longer, Bailey said.

The software costs about $370,000, which includes training, installation and hardware upgrades.
