— GYMNASTICS LSU defeats Arkansas

Arkansas freshman Sydnie Dillard helped the Razorbacks win the beam title Friday night, but it wasn’t enough as No. 7 LSU defeated No. 20 Arkansas 196.825 to 195.625 in Baton Rouge.

Dillard secured the beam title by nailing her front aerial to a one-handed back-hand spring, but LSU dominated the rest of the meet, outscoring Arkansas in the vault (49.400 to 48.800), the bars (49.325 to 48.875) and the floor (49.425 to 49.000).

“We had a good road score tonight,” Arkansas co-Coach Rene Lyst said. “We had a couple of mistakes as far as not holding handstands and hitting parts of routines, but at the same time we did not have a fall or have to count a fall tonight.”
