Schools Get Grants For Outdoor Facilities

Disc golf, track and recreation equipment will be added

Three schools in Fayetteville have each received a $10,000 grant to establish outdoor recreation facilities as part of the state’s effort to fight obesity among children.

Tobacco Excise Tax

The Arkansas Tobacco Excise Tax was created in 2009 to award Joint Use Agreement grants to schools and community partners to increase opportunities for physical activity. Money is available each fiscal year based on excise tax appropriations. The program is a collaboration of the Department of Education, Department of Health and Center for Health Improvement.
