— Fayetteville turned into zone busters from 3-point range in the first half, and used its size advantage to keep its 7A/6A-West Conference win streak alive on Friday.

FAYETTEVILLE 52, SPRINGDALE HIGH 37

Springdale 8 10 10 9 — 37

Fayetteville 17 10 14 11 — 52

Springdale (6-18, 1-11): Jurgens 14, Daniels 10, Dederich 6, Taylor 3, Long 2, Perez 2.

Fayetteville (11-14, 7-5): Crockett 12, Edie 11, Moore 8, Breden 6, Howard 4, Austin 4, Schuldt 3, Denes. White 2, Denek. White 2.

The Lady Bulldogs hit five of their first nine attempts from 3-point range — including three consecutive in a four-minute stretch from sophomore Sydney Crockett — and built a double-digit lead early in the second half on their way to a 52-37 win against Springdale High in Bulldog Arena. The victory was a season-best fourth straight for Fayetteville (11-14, 7-5 7A/6A-West).

“If we could have shot like that and scored like that earlier in the season, our record would look different right now,” Fayetteville girls basketball coach Vic Rimmer said. “But we just shot really well tonight.

“Crockett came out on fire and hit some shots and the big thing was we only had 11 turnovers. And I also thought Aubrey Edie played one of here best games tonight.”

Edie, who finished with 11 points, three steals, three rebounds and one assist, helped Fayetteville frustrate Springdale inside on the defensive end. The Lady Red’Dogs had 17 offensive rebounds against Fayetteville, but turned them into just six second chance points.

“We got a lot of offensive rebounds but we only got three baskets off of them,” Springdale coach Heather Hunsucker said. “But to their credit, their size gave us some problems and made it hard on us to score.”

Fayetteville never led by less than nine points the entire second half and built the lead to as much as 18 late in the fourth quarter. Crockett led the Lady Purple ‘Dogs with 12 points and Brittany Jurgens paced Springdale (6-18, 1-11) with 14.
