MAGNOLIA - The Third District Agricultural School at Magnolia is closed today for lack of students. Every boy over 17 1/2 years of age was warned to work the roads and is today piling pine brush into the mudholes. This is rather an unusual occurrence, as most boarding students are not required to work roads or pay road tax. Columbia County does not have a road tax, but uses the antiquated system of warning the residents to turn out with their shovels, axes and hoes and pretend to work the road. As a result, the roads are said to be in a deplorable condition.

EARLE - A curfew here was lifted Tuesday before it was ever imposed. The ordinance would have imposed a curfew for the late night and early morning hours.
