FORT SMITH Police say a suspect is in custody after the fatal shooting of a woman in Fort Smith.
Police say the shooting happened shortly after midnight Thursday at a home at 3512 Pryor Ave., Fort Smith. Authorities say a man shot the woman to death then fled in her black pickup.
Police arrested Dustin Trowbridge, 19, in connection with the shooting. A news release Thursday identified the woman as Rita Anderson, 25.
Also present were Anderson's two sons, ages 5 and 6, and her boyfriend, Zachary Dunn, who called the police, according to the news release.
Anderson was shot in the head, the news release stated.
Authorities spent the early morning hours Thursday searching for the suspect. Trowbridge was found at about 5:30 a.m. at acquaintances residence, according to the news release.
Trowbridge is being held without bond on charges of first-degree murder and theft of property, according to the news release.
