A Greenland man accused of killing his wife and mother-in-law and critically injuring a third family member pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning.

Mandrake Patterson, 27, was arraigned on two counts of felony capital murder and one count of attempted capital murder before a magistrate judge.

Betty DeSalvo, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hope Patterson, 34, and Denise Fulfer, 55, were transported to Washington Regional Medical Center, where Hope Patterson reportedly died.

Greenland Police Chief Gary Ricker said Mandrake Patterson was the husband of Hope Patterson. Desalvo was Hope Patterson’s mother and Fulfer was Desalvo’s sister.

Washington County Magistrate Ray Reynolds set an April 12 trial date for Patterson, though that date will likely change as the sides prepare for trial.
