— FOOTBALL Fayetteville’s Early hired by UA

Fayetteville defensive coordinator Brian Early is leaving after four seasons to become defensive quality control coach at Arkansas, Bulldogs Coach Daryl Patton said.

Early, a 1994 Arkansas-Monticello graduate, helped Fayetteville win Class 7A state championships the past two seasons.

“We hate to lose Brian,” Fayetteville Coach Daryl Patton told NWA Media. “He’s been very successful and he was a big part of everything we’ve been able to do. But this is something he’s wanted to do for a long time, to get back into college coaching.”

Before moving to Fayetteville, Early coached defensive linemen and was special teams coordinator at Central Arkansas.

Early has also coached at Greenwood, Minnesota State, West Memphis, Arkansas-Monticello and Greenland.
