Einert To Speak On Ozark Plants Folklore

Al Einert, professor emeritus of horticulture at the University of Arkansas, will present a program on the folklore of Ozark plants at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area Visitor Center at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Einert will discuss myths and facts about plants native to Northwest Arkansas, according to a news release. Learn more about persimmon trees, the poke plant and find out why one should carry a buckeye. He will touch on the Native American folklore regarding “trail” or “marker” trees, and explain how to harvest plants used by previous generations. 

Admission is free. The program is part of the Friends of Hobbs Speaker Series.

The Visitor Center is on Arkansas 12 east of the War Eagle Road intersection.
