Rain is forecast for Arkansas on Tuesday, with snow possible in some areas as the temperatures drop Tuesday evening into Wednesday, the National Weather Service said Monday.
The most common rain totals will be in the 1/10-inch to 1/3-inch range, with some areas receiving as much as 1/2 inch, Warning Coordination Meteorologist John Robinson said in an e-mailed statement.
As Tuesday evening grows colder, snow is possible, mainly in northwest and north-central Arkansas, Robinson said. The Ouachita Mountain region, particularly Scott and Polk Counties, could also receive snow.
In the higher elevations in Northwest Arkansas, snowfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are possible. An inch could occur in north-central Arkansas and the highest Ouachita Mountains, Robinson added.
