Just don’t let the taxpayers see

THAT WAS fast. Tuesday morning our editorial about the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, specifically about its refusal to share its financial review of a $3.37 million shortfall in its fund-raising division, landed on doorsteps all across Arkansas. Before the day was out, Chancellor G. David Gearhart had requested an independent audit of the division’s operation by not one but two outside authorities: the statewide university system and the Arkansas legislature, which has a Legislative Audit Division at its disposal.
