The music department at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith will host three musical events Monday and Tuesday.

The UA-Fort Smith Jazz Band and Jazz Catz will offer an hourlong performance at noon Monday in the Reynolds Room at the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center. Guests are invited to take along a sack lunch and enjoy the free concert.

Thomas Zugger, an associate professor of trombone and euphonium at the Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, Ohio, will present a trombone master class from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday at Second Street, 101 N. Second St. in Fort Smith. The class is free and open to any high school trombone student who wishes to participate.

A faculty recital is planned for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, also at Second Street. Zugger and Chuck Booker of Fort Smith will each premiere new musical works at the concert.

Representatives from the Cherokee Nation will visit Northwest Arkansas this weekend and next to meet with Cherokee citizens and offer them a chance to upgrade their tribal citizenship cards.

New photo ID “blue cards” will be available 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

today at McAuley Hall, 1200 W. Walnut St. in Rogers; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at the Van Buren Library; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Pendergraft Health Sciences Building on the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith campus; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. March 2 at the UA Law School in Fayetteville.

Cherokee citizens should take their IDs, their existing citizenship cards and a Certificate Degree of Indian Blood card. More information is available by calling (918) 207-3896.
