— Jordan Murray’s work on the soccer field mainly goes unnoticed by many because she doesn’t score a lot of goals or guard the net.

Bentonville coach Kristina Henry notices what her senior does, and so did Dallas Baptist.

Murray impressed the defending Heartland Conference champion enough to make her an offer, and she signed her National Letter of Intent with the NCAA Division II school Thursday morning.

“I’m really excited to get to Dallas Baptist,” Murray said. “The coach is amazing, and I’ve been able to meet with most of the girls.

“It’s everything I ever wanted for a long time, and I can’t wait to get there.”

Murray said she was told about Dallas Baptist by her youth pastor. That led to a trip to the campus when she was a sophomore, and she was immediately hooked.

Henry said the opportunity to play with a team like Dallas Baptist — which finished its fall campaign with an 18-3 record and a 9-1 league mark and was ranked No. 17 in the final poll by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America — was a welcome reward for a player like Murray, who is so versatile that Henry can use her in a number of roles.

“She’s so dedicated, and she works so hard,” Henry said. “She’s a fantastic representative of the student-athlete, and she’s really going to set herself up for some success.

“She’s done a lot of things for us. If we need someone to go up top to fight and scrap for us, we’ll put her up there. She’s primarily a defender, so she’s a good attacking back. She likes to go forward and take the game on.”

Murray could play several roles at Dallas Baptist, but she’s determined to be ready for what comes her way.

“Who knows where’ll I will be,” she said. “But wherever it is, I’m going to work hard to be the best player at that position I can be.”
