Mr Mardis may have been impressed with the shelters numbers but others are not. WA county's shelter had a 26.8% euthanasia rate in Dec 2012 which is one of the least busiest months of the year in the shelter world. Other shelter euthanasia rates are typically in the single digits this time of year. The City of Rogers ended the year with a 13.9% E-Rate and Fayetteville at just over 22%. I hope the Quorum court will support the new shelter director and give her the tools she will be needing to make saving more lives a priority for the new shelter. The dog catcher days are over and have been replaced by Animal Control Officers and citizens are expecting our shelters to live up to their name and truly be a safe haven for animals and not just a place where they can be spared the misery of life!
