— Budget-conscious parents are invited to learn more about healthy and inexpensive meal preparation at a special cooking class Tuesday at Owl Creek School.

Adam Simmons, child nutrition director for the School District, will conduct the free class in partnership with Apple Seeds.

The class will start at 6 p.m. for anyone who is interested in preparing healthy meals. Early registration is not required.

Samples of the food will be served following Simmons’ demonstration. All participants will receive recipes and resources to help prepare the meals.

The class is the first in a series of four this spring, all of which will be at Owl Creek School cafeteria, 375 N. Rupple Road.

Apple Seeds offers educational programs, such as cooking classes, gardening clubs and hands-on field trips, to Northwest Arkansas schools and organizations. Programs combine nutrition education with learning about food and agriculture to help students, their families, and community members make healthy food choices and form lifelong healthy eating habits.
