— MEN ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 81, ALABAMA STATE 77

All five starters scored at least 10 points each as Arkansas-Pine Bluff (9-13, 8-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) held off Alabama State (6-17, 4-5) at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Guard Lazabian Jackson scored 20 points to lead UAPB’s balanced attack. Forward Davon Haynes and center Terrell Kennedy added 13 points each, while guard Daniel Broughton scored 12 and guard Tevin Hammond chipped in 10.

UAPB shot 48.4 percent (30 of 62) from the field, including 47.4 percent (9 of 19) from behind the three-point line.

Guard Joshua Freelove scored a game-high 29 points to lead Alabama State, and forward Phillip Crawford had 21 points.

WOMEN ALABAMA STATE 66, ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 63, OT

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Quentori Alford scored 16 points and Erica Henderson added 10 as Alabama State (6-14, 4-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) edged Arkansas-Pine Bluff (7-12, 3-6) in overtime.

UAPB’s Chigozianyi Okwumbua scored on a layup with 8 seconds left to send the game into overtime.

UAPB took a 62-58 lead in the extra period after a jumper and a layup by Asia Rhines-Malone, but Alabama State outscored the Lady Lions 8-1 the rest of the way.

UAPB had three players with at least 10 points each but shot just 30.2 percent (19 of 63) from the field. Lakendra Marsh led UAPB with 17 points. Marion Thompson and Okwumbua added 11 points each.
