Natural Foods Store Opening In Rogers

Akin’s Natural Foods Market is opening in Rogers this year.

The store is slated to open this spring at 4019 W. Walnut St. in the Scottsdale Center, according to an email from Kim Fisher, Akin’s marketing coordinator. Renovation is under way in the empty store between Petco and Staples.

Fisher didn’t return calls or email by 5 p.m. Friday seeking additional information.

There are eight Akin’s spread across Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas. Rogers will be the chain’s first Arkansas location.

The first Akin’s opened in 1935. Stores carry supplements, cosmetics, organic groceries and produce, fresh packaged foods, pet supplies and cooking and gift items.

It joins just a handful of similar stores in the Northwest Arkansas.

The Fresh Market opened last summer in the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers.

The other two natural food stores have much longer histories in the area.

Mary’s Natural Foods opened in Springdale in 1968, and Ozark Natural Foods started in 1971.
