Rebecca M. Stalcup

Where I live: I live in the Katillus neighborhood of west Little Rock with my husband, Brandon, and our four children: Gavin, 12; Holland, 10; Avaleigh, 7; and Farah, 5.

Occupation: I am the artistic director of Arkansas Festival Ballet and the Arkansas Academy of Dance. I am also an adjunct professor in the Theater and Dance Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

My favorite space is: Our family great room/dining room.

Why? This is where all the family action is - the hub of the Stalcup Home. We decorate for the holidays in these rooms, celebrate birthdays and host family gatherings.My husband and I designed this space so that it would be both kid friendly and hospitable. The rooms flow into one another with separation of a dual sided/open fireplace and shelving that holds books, family trinkets and many photos of our children. We try to keep this area of the house separate from work obligations. Family time and having a designated family area is important to us as parents.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Install a video camera that is constantly recording. There have been so many memorable times in this space. We have been in this house for 11 years - life is happening in this room. I want to be able to remember it all.
