Keep it clean

Planet All-Purpose Spray Cleaner

When a company has the word “planet” in the name, you have to figure that their products will be environmentally friendly.

Planet has a line of detergent, dish-washing soap (liquid and powder) and its All-Purpose Spray Cleaner.

The cleaner doesn’t do a lot of things: It doesn’t smell. It’s not tested on animals. It doesn’t fume. It doesn’t have color. It doesn’t gunk up the air and water supplies with nonbiodegradable ingredients.

But it does clean. The spray is safe for most surfaces, but it does streak, so you shouldn’t use it on mirrors or windows (so if you’re being literal, it’s not totally all-purpose).

In addition to a quick swipe of the countertop, it can be used to polish chrome (spray on a damp cloth, wipe, then polish with a dry cloth), on your oven (let soak, scrub, wipe), on walls and floors (dilute first) or to spot-clean carpets (spray, work in with damp sponge, then rinse and soak up excess moisture).

The fact that it’s colorless and odorless is a little unnerving at first. It’s a bit like you’re spraying water. But it does work at cleaning up grime and residue.
