Civil War site adds 12 podcasts

Twelve new podcasts about the state’s Civil War history have been added to the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission website, commission officials announced.

The podcasts can be accessed at arkansascivilwar150.com/research-education/ podcasts/.

The new podcasts were created in cooperation with the School of Mass Communication at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The new offerings include podcasts by:

Carl Carlson-Drexler, of the Arkansas Archeological Survey, on the archaeological story of Dooley’s Ferry.

Blake Wintory, of Arkansas State University’s Heritage Sites program, on Lakeport Plantation during the Civil War.

James Johnston, a recognized authority on the Civil War in the Ozarks, on Confederate nitre mining, guerrilla warfare and immigration in the region.

Josh Williams, of Historic Washington State Park, on 1863 Washington, Ark.

Rebecca Howard, of the University of Arkansas atFayetteville, with two stories of women in Civil War Arkansas.

Ben Boulden, a biographer of Union Gen. Frederick Steele, on Steele’s Civil War experience.

David Sesser, of Henderson State University, on disease in Helena during the Civil War.

Mark K. Christ, of the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, on the Battle of Jenkins’ Ferry.
