SMU Jones extended
DALLAS - Coach June Jones has agreed to a three-year contract extension with SMU that lasts through 2017.
Jones has won two Conference USA championships at SMU, which completed its first season in the American Athletic Conference this season. The Mustangs finished 5-7 overall, ending a streak of four consecutive bowl appearances.
DUKE Roper interviewing
Duke offensive coordinator Kurt Roper was interviewed for the same position at Florida on Monday, said a person familiar with the situation, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because Florida isn’t commenting publicly.
Roper, a finalist for the Broyles Award, followed coach David Cutcliffe to Duke in 2008 from Tennessee and helped rebuild the Blue Devils from one of the nation’s worst power-conference programs to the champions of the ACC’s Coastal Division.
