UA dean, wife donate $100,000 to start scholarships

FAYETTEVILLE — A University of Arkansas dean and his wife have donated $100,000 to establish two scholarships at the school.

John English, dean of the College of Engineering, and his wife, Elizabeth, made the donation to establish scholarships in the industrial engineering and electrical engineering departments.

The Nancy Carolyn English Endowed Scholarship in Electrical Engineering and Sara English Crismon Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Engineering are each being established with $50,000 endowments.

English said that as representatives of the University of Arkansas and College of Engineering, he and his wife felt it was fitting to support students just as the school's donors do.

Chancellor G. David Gearhart said it's uplifting to see faculty and staff give back financially because it shows how dedicated they are to the university.
