PUBLIC VIEWPOINT Rural Resident Wants Equality In Fees

Saturday, December 21, 2013

Iwish to express my concern over the proposal to assess an $85 fee on those of us living outside the city and town limits for ambulance service.

Where do these people think we spend our money for groceries, dry goods, fuel, medical, optical, dental and everything else a household might need? I can tell you, we come into the cities and towns in Benton County and help keep the businesses afloat and pay our share of the sales taxesthey collect.

My point is this, if you are going to impose an $85 fee for ambulance service, it should be on every household in the county of Benton, not just on those of us living in the rural areas.

Think about this: Where does the county get its money for budgeting? My guess is it gets a fair share of it from those of us living in the rural areas. All we want is equality.

I really believe the people making the rules need to look at the whole of BentonCounty and not just in the towns and cities or the big raises you can give to the county employees.

These are not just my opinions. I think the petition spoke loud and clear.

Rogers KUDOS TO CARRIERS The Dec. 10 editorial headed “Building Limits Need Stability After Review” was notonly well researched but insightful and easy to read. I appreciate your writer looking at the history of Fayetteville’s planning rules and explaining how compromise works well.

Also, I applaud our delivery folks, Howard and Joyce Boyd. We haven’t missed a newspaper even with this recent snow and ice. Bravo!

Thank you!
