Looks like a hypocrite

I recently saw Sen Mark Pryor on a campaign ad holding and waving the Bible and claiming that he believes in God and his word. I believe Satan believes in God, too.

How can he claim to know God and his word, yet be a member of a party who supports abortion and same-sex marriage? I believe the senator is just trying to fool Christian voters into voting for him by acting like he is devout. This man voted in Obamacare. I won’t judge him, God will do that,so I believe I would be careful with that Bible-waving.

I’m voting for Tom Cotton, a veteran. I think if we haven’t learned anything in the last five years, we should have learned that the Democratic agenda is a sinking ship; I am sure they hate that they can’t blame President George W. Bush for this health-care fiasco. I never thought I would see the day that a sitting president would support same-sex marriage. I guess Pryor is what we call a hypocrite.

This is the time of year to celebrate the birth of our savior. I don’t do business with stores who say “happy holidays.” Labor Day, Memorial Day, Columbus Day-those are holidays. I would like to see Gov. Mike Beebe make a stand for this state and remove the freethinker propaganda from the Capitol grounds. ’Course, I don’t trust a man who promised to remove the grocery tax and poor people are still paying it seven years later.

Let’s send a message to all the liberals this next election and let them know that Arkansas is a conservative Christian state. Quit pushing for gay marriage in our state. And my message to all is not happy holidays, but Merry Christmas!

Dealing with children

It’s bad enough there are children running the federal government. I guess they are elected by all those children who want the government to pay for preventatives.

I thought that woman saying the government should pay for her preventatives was disgusting, and then she got her picture on the cover of a magazine. Men should be ashamed of themselves, taking advantage of women in their weaknesses. Some of that probably goes with the large numbers of divorces. Some children being dumped on the state or the woman has it all to do herself.

Israel isn’t going to be the only country run by children when Jesus returns. We have a fair share of that right here. I think morality in front of children is the best way to go.

Need that information

I believe our judicial system is getting into an area that it has no business in. Judges keep saying it’s unconstitutional what our NSA/CIA is doing to our citizens.

If these activities were in place prior to Pearl Harbor and 9/11, they might have not happened. If these activities are curtailed, who will take the blame if we get hit again-Barack Obama?

Remember, all’s fair in love and war.

Take the control back

It seems the U.S.A. is for sale to whoever will provide a bailout for the corporations that are in charge. There is no need to be concerned with the citizens. They will gladly trade their freedom for a few small entitlements, as long as they do not have to work, and their daily routine is not disturbed.

This sounds ridiculous, but I believe this is exactly the condition our country is in. We do not have to sell our country, because our citizens will gladly give it away rather than perform their patriotic duty to keep our government in check. Remember in the Constitution that our founding fathers set forth government run by the people, and for the people? If the government isn’t controlled by the people, then it won’t be for the people! The blame for our country’s condition rests on the shoulders of its citizens.

We’ve all heard the saying, “Freedom is not free.” Freedom requires sacrifice from all of us. We must be tolerant of each other’s speech, habits, ideals and beliefs-even if we don’t agree with them-in order to maintain freedom for all. We should stand up for the principles that this country was founded on, and vote undesirables out of office. Inconvenient at times, voting is a small price to pay for our freedom. Your children will lose their freedom if you do not wake up and take control of our government.

Team of coal miners?

I’ve been a Razorback fan since I was in the Navy back in the ’50s when the guys would listen on radio and TV if within range of a station. The Razorback uniform worn then-red jersey, white pants with a red stripe, red helmet with the Razorback logo and black shoes-was pure and simple class.

Now, the team looks like a bunch of coal miners in the gray (anthracite?) uniforms. Can you spell ugly? And the others are not much better. Who decided the uniform change would help recruiting? If I were an athletic talent, I might go to Arkansas in spite of the uniform, but not because of it.

It seems Alabama and quite a few other powerhouse teams haven’t changed their uniform since forever. Just think how much better they could have recruited with a change in color-saffron and puce, maybe.Someone needs to inform ol’ Nick Saban about this so he might make some needed improvements in his teams through improved recruiting. Maybe we should also let Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State and some others who can’t seem to win in on the panacea of uniform color changes.

What kind of player goes to a school because of the uniform its players wear? Some cool dude who can’t spell football? Who threw tradition out the window on the idiotic premise that it would help recruiting? Good Lord!

Tradition can be a powerful thing-ask any team with a winning one. I will always be a Razorback supporter, win or lose, but I think a good start to the team getting back to where it once was just might be as simple as going back to the uniform it once proudly wore. Are you listenin’, Bret?

Christmas angel helps

This is for those of us that forget what Christmas is about sometimes, and to prove that there really are Christmas angels out there.

Last Friday I was on my way to work and slid down a steep hill on the ice. My truck landed with its back end up against a dirt hill and the back tires in a shallow ditch; the front was a few feet from a 15-foot dropoff into the woods and creek. I couldn’t move my vehicle, it was raining and sleeting outside, and I was low on gas so couldn’t leave my motor running to stay warm. I called a tow truck and by the time they got there I was very cold and had prayed to not slide off the dropoff or have another vehicle come around the curve and slide down the hill into me. The tow guy finally got me out and I went home to get warmed up.

Later that evening I had to go to Wal-Mart because I had paid the tow guy all the money I had saved for Christmas and was not going to be able to get my layaway out. As I was explaining to the guy in the layaway department why I needed to cancel my layaway, a women stepped up to the counter, gave him a credit card and told him to pay off the layaway and get it out.

I was shocked and speechless; I told her it was $167 and she told the guy to run the card. I didn’t know what else to say so I hugged and thanked her and cried. Now, everyone who knows me knows that I am not a hugger or a crier.

I turned to the Wal-Mart guy to sign the layaway slip and when I turned back around, she was gone. My family will be getting Christmas this year, but not from me-from a Christmas angel. RONNIE SNYDER Bella Vista
