Local foundations focus aid on youths

Ability Tree, Youth Bridge

As we do every year, NWA Media has invited the nonprofit organizations that help our community all year to ask for help in return.

Their wish lists will appear in the Our Town section every Thursday through Christmas.

Ability Tree

What: Ability Tree helps organizations become more inclusive through recreation, education, support and training (R.E.S.T.). It aims to partner with individuals and organizations to raise awareness and build support networks to strengthen and grow able families. Ability Tree offers a variety of programming throughout Northwest Arkansas, specifically after school, art, respite, support groups and community events.

Youth Bridge

What: Youth Bridge is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency shelter, clinical help and outpatient services for at-risk youth in the Northwest Arkansas area. A large percentage of the youngsters are referred by the Washington and Benton county juvenile court system and other area health service agencies.

Wish List: New furniture(sofas, chairs) designed for industrial use, new tables, filing cabinets, gift cards to Home Depot or Lowes, new food processor/Cuisinart, new Kitchen Aid mixer, food products, playground/exercise structures for outdoor use, fill dirt for sinkhole on the grounds, disposable paper items (toilet paper, paper towels, tissues), new washcloths and towels, new twin sheets, pillows, toiletries, new passenger van for 12, large walk-in freezer, fencing, permanent basketball area, discretionary funds for new flooring and landscaping.
