Rogers trash pickup lags after winter storm

ROGERS — The ice and snow storm that moved through the area a week ago put Inland Services behind in trash removal, according to company officials.

“We are about a week behind picking up recycling, trash and leaves,” said Skye Zufelt, Inland regional manager.

“There was no way we could work the routes during the first few days after the snow and ice. It wasn’t worth the risk to our employees or the property we might have damaged if a truck slid into a parked car or worse, a resident,” Zufelt said.

City officials, aldermen and Inland employees have been receiving a heavy volume of calls regarding the trash service.

David Shump, an Inland customer, who lives on the southwest side of Rogers, said his trash hasn't been picked up in two weeks.

“When I called Inland I was told they didn’t pick up trash for two days and that put the service a week behind. I don’t know how you get a week behind in just two days,” Shump said.

He said understood why the trash service couldn’t run during the worst of the storm, but hopes the service get caught up soon.

Zufelt said Wednesday trash pick up should be back on scheduled by the end of the week.

“We’re still going to be a week behind on the pick up of bagged leaves but we will remove the leaves as soon as possible,” Zufelt said.
