New locations of Jammin Java are popping up around Fayetteville.

Recently a franchise branch opened in Tanglewood Branch Brewing Company at 15th Street and South School Avenue. A second location at the Old Post Office, or OPO, serves holiday light gazers at the downtown square and a new spot is set to open in Sterling Frisco by mid-January.

The original location behind Tim’s Pizza remains open 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m.

“We are going to keep the OPO open year round, with hours limited to the more busy times, such as market mornings, festivals, Lights of the Ozarks, etc.,” said Jammin Java owner Brandon Karn.

The OPO is open 5-8 p.m., or later on the weekends.

“Right now we are just offering hot drinks, mostly hot chocolate, holiday drinks, cookies and brownies during the evenings. We eventually will offer morning pastries and cold drinks during the [Farmer’s] market season,” Karn said.

When approached by the developers of Sterling Frisco to be the gourmet coffee shop presence, it didn’t take much persuasion, said Karn.

Located at 413 N. West Avenue, Sterling Frisco is a newly-built apartment complex aiming to provide off-campus urban living for University of Arkansas students. In addition to Jammin Java, the facility offers a resort-style salt water pool, tanning center, fitness center, game room and computer center.

“That corner is on the path to being one of the busiest foot traffic areas. There will be over 1,000 new beds on that block, and [it is] close to the trail system and bus stops.”

The Frisco location will offer the same line of food and drinks as all of the Jammin Java locations.

While best known for its fresh brewed coffee and espresso drinks, Jammin Java offers a broad selection of fruit smoothies, frozen coffee drinks, chai, hot chocolate, mimosas, beer and wine. The 100 percent all-natural smoothies include classics such as pina colada and lemonade, as well as raspberry, peach and mango.

In addition to muffins, bagels, cookies, brownies and dessert bars, the coffee shop cooks hot breakfast items to order. The morning menu includes a breakfast burrito, biscuits and gravy, breakfast panini and granola and fruit.

For lunch, deli sandwiches, soup and fresh salads are served. A local favorite is the Albuquerque Turkey with hickory-smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, tomato, avocado, organic greens and mayonnaise. Grilled sandwiches include The Cisco Kid with roast beef, cheddar, onion, horseradish and mustard; or The “Full” Monte Cristo with maple ham, Swiss and provolone cheeses, jam and powder sugar.

House-made soups are a hot item during the chilly season. The rotating soup schedule is: chicken gumbo on Monday, potato bacon on Tuesday, broccoli-cheese on Wednesday, Baja chicken on Thursday, and lobster bisque on Friday.

The ½ & ½ combo offers the best of both worlds with a cup of soup and half sandwich for $7.75.

A new item to the menu is a build-your-own Mac-N-Cheese. A 10-ounce serving of “Grandma’s recipe” baked with three real cheeses calls for additions such as sliced jalapenos, grilled onion and garlic, bacon, smoked turkey, grilled ham or chopped beef.

The Mac-N-Cheese will be available only at the Frisco and Fayetteville Square locations.

The Sterling Frisco location will also expand the menu to include scooped ice cream, sundaes and other food items.

“We will have a lot of grab-and-go offerings, pre-made breakfast, lunch and dinner items for folks to grab on their way to the hill or back up to their room or to the pool area,” Karn said.

Once the location gets established, Karn anticipates adding some grocery items, including some quick-to-heat-and-eat frozen entrees, such as pocket-style turnovers, pizzas and chicken strips. He also expects to add in-house delivery to the rooms and courtyard.

For a limited time, Jammin Java has holiday offerings including peppermint bark mocha, gingerbread latte, pumpkin mocha, smores mocha, Vermont apple cider, caramel apple cider and candy cane latte.

A free Jammin Java app provides store locations, the menu and a loyalty rewards program that offers a free coffee after the purchase of 10. Customers who bring their own mug can get a drip-brew coffee refill for $1.

Full catering service is also available for breakfast, lunch or dinner, with food and/or beverages.

“We do a lot of morning meetings with continental-style pastries, fruit, coffee, hot tea, etc.,” Karn said.
