A man died after he was shot Friday night during an attempted robbery in Jacksonville, police said.
Police responded about 8:30 p.m. to the 600 block of West Main Street, where Marcus Israel, 23, crashed his vehicle into a building after being shot several times. He was taken to an area hospital, where he died Saturday.
Investigators said they think Israel was shot at an automated teller machine. The purported gunman was described as a man between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet tall who wore white tennis shoes, bluejeans and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt during the attack. His race was unknown.
Police said they think he used a bicycle for transportation to and from the area.
Further details were not immediately available. The Jacksonville Police Department has asked for anyone with information to call (501) 982-3191.
