Grammy-nominated Irish-American ensemble Cherish the Ladies will offer up “A Celtic Christmas” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fayetteville’s Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St.

‘Holiday soiree’

The Top of the Rock Chorus, a female barbershop-style ensemble and the central Arkansas affiliate of the Sweet Adelines, will hold a “holiday soiree” and silent auction at 7 p.m. Thursday in the clubhouse at The Greens at North Hills, 7400 Arkansas 107, Sherwood. They’ll be serving up “sweet and savory refreshments”; after-five attire is appropriate. The chorus and the High Balls will provide the entertainment.

Song of Arkansas

Are you Arkansas’ next great songwriter? Jan. 24 is the deadline for musicians to enter the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism’s “Song of Arkansas” contest. Write and submit an original song (complete rules and details are available online at arkansas.com/song-of-arkansas); a panel of music professionals will select up to five finalists, and a public online vote, beginning Feb. 10, will determine the winner.

The grand prize will include $2,000 in cash, a professionally produced music video, a professional studio recording session, a performance at the 2014 Arkansas Governor’s Conference and recognition on the parks and tourism website, Arkansas.com. Call (800) 628-8725.

Mathis in Memphis

Singer Johnny Mathis will offer a holiday concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Orpheum Theatre, 203 S. Main St., Memphis.
