Bella Vista Rampaging Pigs Put Down

BELLA VISTA — Officers shot and killed two pigs Thursday after the pigs destroyed property and killed a cat.

Police received a call around 10 p.m. saying a large pig with an ear tag was attacking a vehicle in the area of Longridge Lane and Murphy Drive, Police Chief Ken Farmer said.

Officers later found two pigs, a sow and a juvenile, on Elvendon Drive. The pigs had destroyed patio furniture at a home on that road, Farmer said.

The pigs also destroyed property at another home on Elvendon and killed a cat before they were finally found by police.

The pigs were bloody when officers found them, Farmer said. They were attacking vehicles and charged the officers.

Police attempted to find an owner for the pigs, but no farmers in the area said the pigs belonged to them.

The pigs were put down and removed from the area. The adult weighed about 400 pounds, Farmer said.
