Man gets 8 years for selling cocaine

TEXARKANA - A Texarkana man was sentenced Thursday in a 2011 drug-trafficking investigation dubbed Operation Stateline Sweep, according to a news release.

Terreal Duke, 32, was sentenced to four years in prison without the possibility of parole on each of the two counts of using a communication facility to further the distribution of cocaine.

The sentences will run consecutively for a total of eight years in prison, according to the news release from the office of U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas Conner Eldridge.

Judge Susan Hickey presided over the case in U.S. District Court in Texarkana.

According to the release, a confidential informant contacted Duke by phone to make arrangements to purchase cocaine on Nov. 2, 2010. Duke was arrested after selling crack cocaine to the confidential informant for $1,200 and then attempted to swallow a bag filled with cocaine.
