CARTI center under construction in LR

Representatives of CARTI Cancer Center and elected officials will hold a ceremony at 2 p.m. today on a 37-acre site on Riley Drive off John Barrow Road in Little Rock where the $90 million facility will be located.

Scheduled to open in fall 2015, the center will offer medical, surgical and radiation oncology and diagnostic radiology, as well as hematology services. It will also feature clinics dedicated to imaging, infusion, research, pharmacy and support programs.

The approximately 170,000-square-foot building will will be located just south of Interstate 630. Projected cost of the building, including furnishings and medical equipment, is estimated at $90 million. The land was purchased for $5.1 million.
