BENTONVILLE — Rush Running of Bentonville was a finalist for an award recognizing the best running store in America, but did not win it.

Competitor magazine announced late Thursday that Naperville Running in Naperville, Ill., had won the award for the second time in five years.

Rush Running, which opened in Bentonville in 2008, had been named one of four finalists for this year’s award. It's owned by Mike and Alison Rush, both of whom ran track for the University of Arkansas. The couple opened another Rush Running store in Fayetteville in 2011.

Sole Sports in Tempe, Ariz., and Red Coyote Running & Fitness in Oklahoma City were this year’s other finalists.

Competitor magazine and the running industry trade publication Running Insight coordinate the annual competition. Officials judge stores based on their customer service, community involvement and relationships with vendors.
