It is difficult to imagine that this limited college football weekend could match last week’s excitement, but there are a few really significant games to be picked.

Last weekend, five of the SEC games were decided by a touchdown or less, and incidentally, Arkansas State was officially invited to the GoDaddy Bowl in Jonesboro South (Mobile, Ala.) earlier this week instead of Western Kentucky, which is one game better overall at 8-4 after edging ASU last Saturday but trails the Red Wolves by a game in the Sun Belt standings.

The Sun Belt has laid all the decision-making on Go-Daddy executives, but the bottom line is that the Hilltoppers have played their final season in the Sun Belt and will be part of Conference USA next year.

I went 6-3 for the second consecutive week, and the season record stands at 86-25.

Now for the games:

MISSOURI VS. AUBURN

A big concern for the orange-and-blue Tigers is moving past the victory over arch rival Alabama and focusing on this game in Atlanta that could catapult them into the BCS Championship Game. Gus Malzahn has led Auburn to an incredible turnaround from SEC worst to SEC West first. He’s had some luck, but he’s made some luck along the way, too. The black-and gold Tigers’ front seven on defense is very good. It did a great job of containing Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel last week, and that should help them with Nick Marshall this weekend. Actually, Mizzou didn’t play well in the first half of its victory over A&M last weekend, but Coach Gary Pinkel made halftime adjustments and his Tigers clearly were the better team in the second half. The SEC West is still the best, landing six teams in bowl games, but this is one game. Missouri 35-31

OHIO STATE VS. MICHIGAN STATE

If you are not from Ohio you probably don’t like the school that refers to itself asThe Ohio State University. The Buckeyes have had a very easy schedule, and they’ve run the score up on every school they could. They won’t do that Saturday night in Indianapolis. Michigan State has a great defense, and that’s what wins championships. Michigan State 24-21

DUKE VS. FLORIDA STATE

The Seminoles probably could have won this game without redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston, but assault charges will not be filed against the Heisman Trophy favorite and the Seminoles will put it on the Blue Devils. Still, you have to give Duke Coach David Cutcliffe credit. Earning 10 victories and a divisional title at a basketball school is never easy. Florida State 42-24

STANFORD AT ARIZONA STATE

Stanford dominated the Sun Devils 42-28 in the first meeting, but the Cardinal have been unpredictable this season. Once considered a BCS championship candidate, they lost at Utah and Southern Cal, but a victory in Tempe, Ariz., redeems the season. Arizona State has one of those offenses that seems to run on jet fuel while Stanford is a pro-set offense. The balanced offense controls the clock. Stanford 45-35

TEXAS AT BAYLOR

Both teams limp into this game after being hit with injuries. Texas Coach Mack Brown is again believed to be coaching for his job, but the truth is it is simply time he handed the reins off and went to a nice, cushy job raising money. He is a great guy, but he’s not getting the most out of his talent. Baylor’s Art Briles might be the best coach in Texas and one of the tops in the country. Baylor 63-23

OKLAHOMA AT OKLAHOMA STATE

Not sure who relegated this to an 11 a.m. kickoff, but this should be a great game. It may not be the Iron Bowl good, but it’s close. The Cowboys are rolling right now, but the Sooners are trying to re-establish themselves as the kings of Oklahoma. The fact that the game is in Stillwater plays a huge role in this selection. Oklahoma State 35-24
