Fayetteville Police Investigate Kidnapping Report

FAYETTEVILLE — A man faces felony charges after police said he took a neighbor’s car and baby without permission and returned an hour later.

Officers arrested Kelly T. Jendeski, 31, of 1198 West End Ave. in connection with felony kidnapping, theft of property and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Police were called to 1189 West End Ave., Apt. 2D, about 9:30 a.m. for a report of a kidnapping, according to an arrest report.

Melissa Wilson told police Jendeski had taken her black Jeep Compass and her 1-year-old son.

Investigators said Wilson picked up Jendeski earlier Thursday from Washington Regional Medical Center, where he was seeking treatment.

Wilson told police Jendeski was “high”and “suicidal” and she wanted to help him, police said.

After they returned to Wilson’s apartment, police said Wilson went to a back bedroom.When she came back out, the woman noticed Jendeski, her baby and vehicle were missing, according to the report.

Jendeski returned within an hour with Wilson’s baby and car, police said. The child was unrestrained in the front seat, but unharmed.

Jendeski was in the Washington County Detention Center without bond Thursday.
