Tournaments Adjust For Inclement Conditions

Two area tournaments have taken different approaches to reports of possible snow and sleet heading into Northwest Arkansas.

Despite being under a winter storm warning, the 2013 First National Bank of Rogers Great 8 Classic Girls Basketball Tournament will go on as scheduled today at Rogers Heritage.

The Bank of Fayetteville Bulldog Classic tournament oft cials announced Wednesday the Bulldog Classic has been cancelled. No makeup has been scheduled as teams are already committed to other tournaments through most of the December schedule prior to conference play.

Although Rogers athletic director Mark Holderbaum said the tourney could be canceled if road conditions are deemed to be unsafe. One of the eight teams has already said they won’t travel to Rogers.

Three games are on tap today but host Heritage won’t play as Beebe pulled out of the tourney because of the threat of winter weather. Fort Smith Southside will play Ozark, Mo. at 7 p.m. while Rogers High will play Camdenton, Mo. at 5:30 p.m. Other games have Webb City, Mo. playing Greenwood at 4 p.m.
