As we do every year, NWA Media has invited the nonprofit organizations that help our community all year to ask for help in return.

Their wish lists will appear in the Our Town section every Thursday through Christmas.

Community Creative Center

What: Community Creative Center is a community visual arts organization offering clay and ceramics classes, watercolor, mosaic and mixed media arts classes and workshops for children, youth and adults of all ages and skill levels.

CCC also serves the education community with after school camps, intersession classes, teacher professional development and in-school workshops.

Wish List: Heavy duty shelving, brooms, unwanted art supplies, paper cutter, children’s easels, (2) office desks, paper, general office supplies, drawing paper, card stock, paint brushes of any size and style, watercolor, acrylic and tempura paint, natural sponges, painters tape & masking tape, sharpie pens, Elmer’s glue, colored tissue paper, plastic plates and plastic cups.

OASIS of Northwest Arkansas

What: OASIS of Northwest Arkansas provides safe, sober, spiritual transitional housing for homeless women (usually with young children) recovering from domestic, substance, sexual abuse, and/or reentry from incarceration. Two projects are set to launch in 2014: the opening of a creative workshop and social enterprise run by the residents and volunteers and a labyrinth/meditation garden with a preschooler play yard.

Wish List: Stone walkway, basic gardening tools, seating, plantings, selected lawn ornaments, preschool play equipment, snow shovels, weed eater/trimmer, two 50 foot water hoses, two rain barrels, leaf blower, rakes, volunteers to assist in design and creation.

Creative Workshop/Enterprise: storage cubes, financial software, case of bright white 20 lb paper, small folding tables, workshop table and stools, coffee maker,coffee, beverage refrigerator, bottled water, crafting materials and equipment, volunteer creative and business advisers.

NWA Prison Stories Project

What: For four months, 12 incarcerated women meet twice a week to explore the art of storytelling through writing, reading, poetry, mask making, song writing and life mapping.

Their stories are collected, edited and put together in a staged reading performed inside the prison and then outside for the general public. NWA Prison Story Project is part of the prison ministry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Fayetteville and is currently raising funds to build a halfway house for paroled women ofNorthwest Arkansas Community Correction Center.

Wish List: Legal pads, ball point pens (not click), two-pocket folders, paperback copies of “Their Eyes Were Watching God” and “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” color printer and $40 Walmart gift cards for recently released women for necessities. Monetary donations are needed to support the creation of a halfway house. Financial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Church Prison Ministry.
