Wildwood Park reschedules 'Belew Christmas,' cancels Holiday Tour events

Wednesday, December 4, 2013

With winter weather warnings in forecast for this weekend, the Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock has canceled its daytime events for Saturday and rescheduled the "Belew Christmas" concert planned for Saturday evening.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, park officials said the Designer Breakfast and Holiday Tour of Homes scheduled for Saturday morning would be canceled because of "ice, sleet and frigid temperatures predicted for Little Rock Friday through Sunday."

“The safety of our patrons, homeowners on the Tour, artists, production crews, volunteers and staff are a priority," Executive Director Leslie Golden said in the news release. "It’s a given that the weather can change rapidly in central Arkansas when these sorts of winter storms are moving through our area. The Tour requires traveling from home to home via automobile, and we understand the night-time hours could be a concern on the roads as well."

Golden said the breakfast and tour would not be rescheduled for 2013.

The Christmas-themed concert featuring Beebe native Cody Belew has been rescheduled for Dec. 13 at 8 p.m., the release states.

Belew, who rose to the top eight performers during Season 3 of NBC's The Voice, will be joined at the concert by his band, backup singers and a choir as he performs holiday pieces, as well as original songs and pop covers, according to the release.
