How the BCS bowls are shaping up

BIG 12

No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Baylor and No. 25 Texas are all alive to earn the Big 12 title and the conference’s automatic bid to the Fiesta Bowl. Oklahoma State gets the bid by beating No. 17 Oklahoma. If Oklahoma State loses, the winner of the Baylor-Texas game gets the bid.

SEC

The winner of the SEC championship between No. 3 Auburn and No. 5 Missouri gets an automatic bid to the Sugar Bowl.

No. 4 Alabama is a virtual lock to get an at-large bid, most likely to the Orange Bowl.

ACC

If Duke wins the ACC championship it will play in the Orange Bowl.

PAC 12

The winner of the Pac-12 title game between Stanford and Arizona State gets a Rose Bowl bid.

BIG 10

Michigan State will earn a Rose Bowl bid by beating Ohio State in the Big Ten title game, but also stands a good chance to end up in the Rose Bowl if Ohio State plays for the national championship.

MAC

No. 14 Northern Illinois (12-0) must beat Bowling Green in the Mid-American Conference title game on Friday night and finish in the top 12 of the final BCS standings or stay ahead of No. 16 Central Florida, which leads the American Athletic Conference, an automatic qualifier.
