Dicken’s Christmas Carol updated by TheatreSquared

Eight actors (Jeffrey Baumgartner, Noah Chacon, Jenny Guy, Bryce Kemph, Kathy Logelin, Justin Scheuer, John T. Smith and Nate Stahlke) will perform more than 40 roles as Fayetteville’s TheatreSquared premieres an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, through Dec. 29 in the 175-seat Studio Theatre at Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios, 505 W. Spring St., Fayetteville.

Sing-along screening

Walton Arts Center,495 W. Dickson St., Fayetteville, will screen Sing-a-long Sound of Music at 7 p.m. Friday. Audience members are invited to dress up as a character from the 1965 film version of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, and sing along by following subtitles.

Northwest Arkansas actor-musician-teacher Jason Suel will lead the audience through a pre-show vocal warm-up and provide instructions on how to use the props in the “magic moments pack.”

“An Old World Christmas” opens today at the Rogers Historical Museum, 322 S. Second St., Rogers. The exhibition incorporates guided tours of the Hawkins House, where the museum is located, showing historical Christmas traditions from various countries. The exhibition will be up through Jan. 4. ‘Ephemeral Shrines’

An exhibition of recentwork by Little Rock artist Lakey Goff Sanford, titled “Ephemeral Shrines,” opens with a 7-9 p.m. reception Thursday at The Depot, 548 W. Dickson St., Fayetteville. Admission is free and the restaurant will supply food, beverages and music.

The exhibition of sculptural headpieces, displayed in photographs taken by the artist’s husband, Dero Sanford, will remain on display during the restaurant’s normal business hours, 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday, through Dec. 29. Theater commitment

Joseph K. Farmer plays an out-of-work actor who gets a job manning the red-hot reservation line at Manhattan’s most exclusive restaurant in the Rogers Little Theater’s dinner theater production of the one-man show Fully Committed by Becky Mode at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and Dec. 12-14 and 2 p.m. Dec. 8 and 15 at the Victory Theater, 116 S. ‘Tunes for Toys’

The Fort Smith Symphony is conducting a “Tunes for Toys” drive as part of its sold-out Christmas concert, “The Living Christmas Card,” featuring the vocal quartet In Full Swing, 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Arkansas Best Corp. Performing Arts Center, Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 S. Seventh St., Fort Smith. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket to the concert (there has been a waiting list since September), deposit a new, unwrapped toy for children in foster care, all ages, infants to teens, into one of the special, gift-wrapped containers in the lobby. Les Mis auditions

Rogers Little Theater will hold auditions for the musical Les Miserables (music by Claude-Michel Schonberg, original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, with an English libretto by Herbert Kretzmer, based on the Victor Hugo novel), 7-9 p.m. Dec. 9-10 at the Victory Theater, 116 S. Second St., Rogers.

Eureka home tour

Nine Eureka Springs homeowners are inviting visitors into their lavishly decorated residences for the Eureka Springs Preservation Society’s 31st annual Eureka Springs Christmas Tour of Homes, 3-8 p.m. Saturday.Docents in Victorian attire will be at each house on the self-guided tour to relate its history; visitors will encounter choir and band music, carolers and refreshments. Breakfast with Santa

Madrigal Feaste

The Arkansas State University Choirs will serve as the court of “King Henry the Eighth of England, Jonesboro, and Craighead County,” complete with costumes, decorations, comedy and fanfare, in the 15th annual Madrigal Feaste 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday the Grand Hall of ASU’s Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro.

Dale Miller, director of choral activities, will host. The wassail bowl will be available 15 minutes before seating, at which time the first fanfare will sound. Servers and the audience will sing traditional carols; the “court” will sing madrigals and chansons. The menu will be lemon parmesan-encrusted chicken breast, candied baby carrotswith pecans, roasted potatoes with garlic and parsley, baby lettuce with dried cranberries and rolls; a flaming pudding will come in with the royal fanfare.
