Passenger Pigeon Featured At Hobbs Program

Author Joe Neal will discuss the passenger pigeon’s demise and the possibility of saving the red-cockaded woodpecker when he speaks Saturday at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area Visitor Center.
While serving as a wildlife biologist in the Ouachita National Forest, Neal’s work focused on recovery for the endangered species, the red-cockaded woodpecker. He is author of “Arkansas Birds and Birds in Northwest Arkansas — An Ecological Perspective.”
The free program is at 2 p.m. and is part of the Friends of Hobbs Speaker Series.
The Visitor Center is just east of the Arkansas 12 and War Eagle Road intersection.
