Gravette Man Arrested After Siloam Springs Shooting Incident

SILOAM SPRINGS — A Gravette man has been arrested on charges he broke into a Siloam Springs apartment and shot through the door of a bedroom in which three occupants had locked themselves Friday morning.

Police said Tyler J. Ivey, 23, broke into 2250 W. Central St., Apt. 115, through the kitchen window and fired a shot through the bedroom door, according to a news release. A man, a woman and a child were in the apartment and locked themselves inside a bedroom.

Ivey faces charges of aggravated residential burglary, a class Y felony, and aggravated assault, a class D felony.

At 11:09 a.m. Friday, Siloam Springs police were called to the apartment. They heard two gunshots from within the apartment when they arrived.

After the first shot was fired, Ivey and the man in the home fought, during which a second shot was fired. The woman and the child were able to get out of the home during the struggle. Ivey followed a short time later and was arrested.

The home’s occupants of the home were not injured. A handgun was found at the scene.

Capt. Geoff Lewis of Siloam Springs Police Department said Ivey was an acquaintance of the occupants but they didn’t know why Ivey broke in. The investigation continues.

Ivey was taken to Siloam Springs Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He suffered them when he broke into the apartment, Lewis said.

Ivey was later booked into Benton County Jail.
