The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville said Friday that Associate Vice Chancellor for University Relations John Diamond will be leaving the school at the end of September.
A statement from Vice Chancellor Chris Wyrick announced the departure but didn't offer details on the circumstances of Diamond's departure. The announcement comes amid a restructuring of the UA Advancement Division staff by Wyrick, who inherited a multimillion-dollar budget deficit when he took control of the division July 1.
Roy Cordell, senior director of creative services and longtime University Relations staff member, will fill in while the university conducts a national search for Diamond's successor, the statement said.
"I am deeply grateful to Roy for stepping in at this critical moment and providing leadership and expertise as we move toward the public phase of Campaign Arkansas,” Wyrick said. “Roy is highly regarded across campus and by the university relations staff in particular. I wish Mr. Diamond the best in future endeavors and thank him for his service to the UA."
