Compton Dream Focus Of Bentonville Presentation

BENTONVILLE — Compton Gardens and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will team to present information on how the groups are integrating Dr. Neil Compton’s landscape vision at 3 p.m. Sunday at the museum’s Great Hall.

Compton was an acclaimed naturalist and champion of the Buffalo River who dreamed of bringing the essence of the river to his hometown of Bentonville, according to a news release. He created a nursery for native plants on a small plot of land near Crystal Spring, and grounds staff at the museum have worked to uncover and identify plants in the original beds.

Scott Eccleston, director of facilities and grounds for the museum, and Corrin Troutman, director of facilities and grounds at Compton Gardens/Peel Mansion, will shed light on how Compton’s passion and dedication to the land led to the native landscapes at Compton Gardens and Crystal Bridges.

Admission is free, but online reservations are suggested. Walk-in seating will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit http://crystalbridges.org/
