PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Stop Attacking National Rifle Association

Twice this month you have taken unwarranted cheap shots at the NRA, an organization that has worked diligently in support of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. You are so busy playing the lap dog of the liberals that you haven’t realized it is the Second Amendment that guarantees your right to print inane and depthless editorials, which you do on a regular basis.

It is not by accident that the Second Amendment follows an amendment that speaks of citizen right to freedom of religion, free speech, the right of peaceable assembly, freedom of the press and the right to petition government for a redress of grievances. The freedoms expressed in the First Amendment, and for that matter all other amendments, would have been just glorious wishes without the muscle of the Second Amendment. Our right to bear arms and defend ourselves against domestic and foreign tyrants serves as a warning to all would-be dictators — a right that the Second Amendment says shall not be infringed.

I bet you just love the First Amendment. Well, so do I, as do most other Americans who have to tolerate your simple and thoughtless cheap shots. The First Amendment has always shielded the Fifth Estate, thank God! I say this because it also allows me to challenge you to remember that your exalted position should be treated with genuine respect for the right allowed to you by our glorious Constitution. So show respect for the residents of Arkansas and stop hiding behind the First and Second amendments to attack good, law-abiding organizations like the NRA. The NRA is not going to go away or stop promoting the citizen’s right to bear arms. Nor is President Barack Obama going to succeed in taking away our right to own fi rearms.

Unlike you, who with a limited market, has to rely on advertisements to continue to exist, the NRA doesn’t have to carry the baggage you do. Unless, you call the Constitution of the United States “baggage.” So go and reread the Constitution of our great nation and then find better and real solutions for our social problems. I think you will learn these problems are caused by profane and irreligious and undemocratic ideas sweeping our nation.
