The Community Creative Center at Nadine Baum Studios in Fayetteville has announced its summer camp schedule for 2013. Registration begins Wednesday.

Classes for June 3-7 include Crazy for Art, Art and Nature, and Youth Wheel. From June 10-14, children can learn about mosaics, puppetry or sculpture and wheel.

Classes for June 17-21 focus on clay, fiber arts and painting, while June 24-28 classes include Art Around the World, Surface Fabric Design and Playmakers.

Students can spend three days from July 1-3 learning about mixed media or sculpture. July 8-12 sessions focus on drawing fundamentals, Asian art and youth wheel.

Students can learn about indoor and outdoor painting, cave art, watercolor or upscale art July 15-19 or spend July 22-26 working with 3-D art or clay. The final sessions - set for July 29-Aug. 2 - will focus on acrylic painting, clay, upscale art, and sun catchers and mosaics.

Cost to attend is $85, with the exception of the July 1-3 session, which costs $60. Students can pay an extra $25 to take lunch and stay between sessions.

  • ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTEChamber ensembles to perform

Chamber ensembles from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith music department will perform at UA Fort Smith at Second Street on Wednesday. The brass, woodwinds, percussion and flute groups will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.

A clarinet duet will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s “Concert Piece No. 2” with piano accompaniment, while the brass band will perform as quintets made up of trumpet, trombone, tuba and euphonium players. The brass performance will feature a classic repertoire including Bach and Stravinsky.

A flute quartet will play Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 2” and Claude Debussy’s “Arabesque I.” A six-piece percussion ensemble will perform Susan Powell’s “Carpe Diem,” Blake Tyson’s “Vertical River” and Bob Becker’s “Mudra.”
