Three-run Tulsa 9th stuns NW Arkansas

Dustin Garneau’s single to center scored Jayson Langfels to cap a three-run ninth inning as the Tulsa Drillers rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Sunday at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Brooks Pounders and Matt Ridings held Tulsa to two hits and one unearned run through eight innings and the Naturals entered the ninth with a 3-1 lead.

But Santiago Garrido, who hadn’t given up more than one run in any of his six appearances before Sunday, gave up a lead-off single to Angelys Nina and then a oneout home run to Kyle Parker, his fifth of the seasons, that tied the game at 3-3.

Henry Wrigley popped out for the second out, but Langfels doubled to right field and Garneau followed with a game-winning single.

The Naturals were in position to win despite not mustering much offense.

Tulsa starter Christian Bergman gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 4 over 7 innings before relievers Parker Frazier and Juan Gonzalez combined to pitch two hitless innings.

The Naturals scored a run in the fourth when Angel Franco led off with his first home run of the season that tied the game at 1-1 and they took a 3-1 lead in the seventh, scoring both runs with two outs.

Mitch Canham walked, Yem Prades singled and Manny Pina drove them both in with a double to left field.
