2 killed, 3 injured in state accidents

Two Arkansans were killed and three more were injured on state roadways early Sunday morning, according to police.

Anthony Thomas, 22, of Conway, was struck by a vehicle and killed just after 2 a.m. while lying in the road near 3100 College Ave. in Conway, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash report. According to the report, Thomas died at the scene after being hit by a westbound 1998 Honda driven by Seth Kenney, 23, of Maumelle, who was not injured.

In Pope County, Jimmy Frederick, 22, of Waldron, died after the vehicle he was riding in left the roadway and hit a tree near Arkansas 7 and Pollard Cemetery Road just before 1 a.m., according to a state police report. Frederick was pronounced dead at the scene by Pope County Coroner Doug Hottinger.

Caleb Taylor, 19, of Magazine, who was driving the 1984 Chevrolet pickup truck, and passengers Shane Bell, 19, of Waldron, and Jacob Cagle, 20, of Waldron, also sustained injuries in the crash.
